The visionary and progressive leadership of His Holiness Shri Gurubasava Mahaswamiji of Bilur led to the establishment of the Basaveshwara Veerashaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha (B.V.V. Sangha) on October 18, 1906. Initially founded with the modest objective of establishing a Sanskrit Pathashala to impart cultural values and character-based education to the younger generation, the Sangha’s activities have expanded significantly since its inception. Today, the Sangha operates 169 institutions across Karnataka and Maharashtra. While it began with a Sanskrit Pathashala, it now offers a wide range of educational programs at various levels, including primary education, high school, pre-university, technical education, engineering, medical, paramedical, and human resource development. For over a century, the Sangha has been dedicated to serving underprivileged and economically disadvantaged communities, upholding social, human, and ethical values, and promoting the philosophy of “Work is Worship” as taught by Lord Basaveshwara. The journey and success of the Sangha stand as a testament to its remarkable contribution to the field of education.
